This fountain pen made in China is made to a very high standard.

It has a good weight and a good quality gold plated nib.

As you will see in the video, it writes very neatly and is available for a surprisingly low price.

This is a neat looking pen that has proven very popular.

It is an entry level pen and has quite a light build but having said that I have had mine for years and still use it regularly. I like it as it writes smoothly and feels nice.

The nib glides nicely over the page once a little ink has started to flow.

If I have not used it for a while I may need to run the nib under some hot water for a couple of minutes, but that always does the trick.

I would recommend this to anyone, you cannot go wrong with this fountain pen.

It is at the lower end of the market and is good value. Parker does produce better quality pens that are more expensive.

I usually purchase Parker “Quink” refills for it, but it will take compatible ink cartridges if you want to save money.

The Parker Pen Company was founded in 1888 by George Safford Parker In Wisconsin in the U.S.

The Parker fountain pen was consistently in either the top or second from top selling pen from the 1920s until the 1960s before the popularity of the ballpoint pen.

Parker created Quink – quick drying ink in 1931. This revolutionary ink dried by being absorbed into the paper rather than evaporating (this had the been the case previously) and meant that blotting paper was no longer essential.

Another benefit of this new ink was that the ink lasted a lot longer.

Parker eventually made more profits from Quink than it did from selling fountain pens.

Lamy Safari Vs Pilot Metropolitan

Lamy Safari Vs Pilot Metropolitan

Both the Lamy Safari and Pilot Metropolitan fountain pens are extremely popular low cost fountain pens.

The Lamy Safari has a fibre glass (Polycarbonate Makralon) triangular body, that some find difficult to adjust to after using a round bodied fountain pen, although it is popular with a lot of people.

The Pilot has a brass body that is slightly heavier and round.

The nib on the Lamy Safari is not quite as fine as the finest Metropolitan nib, this is because the Lamy is European (German made) and the Pilot Metropolitan is Asian (Japanese made) and European fine nibs are broader than their Asian counterparts.

This means that the Lamy Safari is lighter than the Pilot Metropolitan, so it depends on your preference for weather you prefer a heavier or lighter pen to hold.

The Safari has a bigger clip that is probably helps it to be a bit more secure in your pocket.

Another feature is that the Safari has an ink window that is visible from outside the pen, that gives you a clear indication of when you will need to replenish your ink.

The Metropolitan comes with an ink converter, this can be a big advantage as you have the ability to swap from cartridge to bottled ink easily, wheras the Safari does not come with a converter although it can be converted. However the Metropolitan does not come with an ink window.

Both pens are very well made and people have reported dropping them without any damage to them.

Lamy Safari Review

Lamy Safari Review

The Lamy Safari fountain pen is made of moulded plastic.

It was designed by Wolfgang Fabian and Bernt Spiegel. It was first produced in 1980 and is still manufactured today. It is a non rounded design, with a cartridge/converter. produced with students in mind, although it is popular with more mature writers.

Lamy is a German company founded by Joseph Lamy in 1930 who was one of the first people to use moulded plastics to produce fountain pens.

This helped to make the production process cheaper and quicker than producing from brass or steel.

The Lamy 2000 is the company’s flagship fountain pen (produced in the year 1966).

It is the first fountain pen to use fibre glass (Polycarbonate Makralon).

It has a semi hooded nib. A commemorative version was produced in the year 2000 called the Edition 2000.

The Lamy Safari is popular because they feel good to write with, are very well made, people report dropping them and still having no trouble using them and have nibs that are smooth to write with.

As the pen is relatively inexpensive, a lot of people use this as a starter pen, but like it so much they still write with it even after they have purchased more expensive pens!

This pen comes with an ink cartridge but can easily be modified to use an ink converter – then it can use ink from a bottle.

The Lamy Safari comes in eight different colours: green, yellow, white, lilac,Umbra, red, blue and pink.

Pilot Metropolitan Fountain Pens

Pilot Metropolitan Fountain Pens

The Pilot Pen Corporation was founded in 1918 by Ryōsuke Namiki and Masao Wada and called The Namiki Manufacturing Company.

It produces a range of pens including gel pens, roller ball pens and ballpoints as well as fountain pens.

In 1964 it produced the Capless, a fountain pen with a retractable nib and then later on the Metropolitan, that is still very popular today.

It also produces marker pens, mechanical pens and highlighters.

The Metropolitan has been produced since 2012, and is still popular, probably because it is reliable and well produced, with a brass body and good quality nib, making it enjoyable to write with.

The fountain pen market is very competitive with hundreds of different models being produced, but sales of the Metropolitan are still going strong.

Three Things I Like About The Pilot Metropolitan Fountain Pen

Three Things I Like About The Pilot Metropolitan Fountain Pen

The Pilot Metropolitan fountain pen is a joy to write with.

Here are three things that I particularly like about it:

1 The feel of the barrel.

The barrel is made of brass which that makes it comfortable to hold and gives it a good weight, it feels like you are using a more expensive fountain pen.

2 The quality of the nib.

The nib allows you to write smoothly without putting using much pressure.

3 The Price! This pen could easily cost twice as much and still be a bargain.

Pilot Metropolitan Collection Fountain Pen Review

Pilot Metropolitan Collection Fountain Pen Review.

If you like writing with a nice pen, then I am sure you will enjoy writing with the Pilot Metropolitan collection fountain pen.

Before I go into detail about this lovely pen, it is worth mentioning that to get the very best out of our fountain pens we need to take good care of them.

One of the best ways to keep your fountain pen in top condition is to clean it regularly.

This is simple to do, just take out the cartridge or converter and then run warm water through the nib.

Then dry your nib by using blotting paper or kitchen roll.

This ensures that you will have a good flow of ink every time you use your fountain pen and will prevent those annoying blockages that sometime occur.

The Pilot Metropolitan pen is very good looking and has a brass body, that helps to make it very durable.

It comes in one colour – black, but this makes it look very smart.

You have the option to use cartridges or the converter (and ink).

The pen writes quite smoothly.

People like it as it is nicely balanced and good value for a quality fountain pen.

Here are a few things that people like about this fountain pen:

  • It feels solid and heavy, but not overweight and writes and feels like a pen that would normally be a lot more expensive.

  • The metal cap fits well as does the metal clip, to attach to your pocket.

  • How smooth the pen writes.

Some people find that the ink reservoir runs out quite quickly but overall this seems a very popular pen, at a good price.

It scores four and a half out of five stars on Amazon and there are 762 customer reviews:
